A Few Words About

Something for Sophie

Our Brand Name

In 2020, I began screen printing to express my creativity while juggling a business consultancy and embracing motherhood. Through Something for Sophie, I created a way to involve my family and instill in my daughter a passion for social impact and entrepreneurship. This unifying force for our family allows us to weave together work, love, art, and activism across generations, and for generations.

Our Forest

The trees in our logo represent my maternal family's lineage, named Lin (林), which means "forest" in Chinese, and is depicted by two trees (木 + 木). In Western culture, forests carry symbolic meanings of growth, renewal, protection, wisdom, and knowledge, all of which resonate deeply with us both personally and professionally.

Our Peace Sign

Sophie's chubby toddler fingers truly encapsulate the essence of Something for Sophie—cute and innocent, while also portraying hope, positivity, and a belief in a better tomorrow, reflecting the values and spirit of our family, as well as this family owned business.

Our Impact

10% of our sales go to charities that promote equity including NAACP, ACLU, Thurgood Marshall College Fund, Planned Parenthood, League of Women Voters, Act Blue, Equal Justice Initiative, Urgent Action Fund, Autism Speaks, Troop 99, Backpacks for the Street, People for the American Way, FeedingNYC, National Fallen Firefighters Foundation & more!

About Yvette

Growing up in bustling New York City, my passion for the arts ignited at a young age. By the time I turned 12, I was fully immersed in painting, carving, photography, and an array of other creative pursuits. As I navigated through managing studios and exploring different mediums, my journey ultimately led me to specialize in pioneering innovative hospitality ventures worldwide. With a career spanning five continents, living in six countries, and exploring an additional forty, I’ve drawn inspiration from a diverse tapestry of cultures and experiences.

Returning to the bustling streets of New York, I embraced motherhood and found new purpose sparked by the 2020 election. Witnessing the urgency to #getoutthevote, I channeled my creative energy into screen printing. It all began with a simple idea—a Future Voter t-shirt for my daughter. To my surprise, my design resonated with many, quickly becoming an Etsy bestseller. Now, in our 5th year, I design for schools, businesses, and non-profits nationwide, amplifying voices and advocating for change.

Join me in this creative adventure, where every design carries a message. Welcome to Something for Sophie, where art meets activism. Together, let’s make an impact—one shirt, one print, one vote at a time.

Enjoy! – Yvette & fam
